Here is what Adam has to say about time in music

Time in music is a very important thing. A large majority of popular music has at some point a goal to make an audience move. Improving our own sense of rhythm and time is really important, and it can feel a bit daunting at times. Luckily, most of us have a natural sense of time that is pretty good, and often it's the complicated act of playing an instrument that gets in the way!

I want to show you how to think about time, how to balance our own internal pulse alongside listening and working collectively as a band, and how to get your playing on the road to having an infectious groove that won't let an audience leave the dance floor.

Adam's brief bio

Adam Betts Performing at the Quarterhouse in Folkestone

As a musician, I am currently playing around the world with artists such as Pulp, David Gilmour, Goldie, Melt Yourself Down, Pete Tong's Ibiza Classics, Squarepusher's Shobaleader One, Moses Sumney, Hot Chip and many more. I have taught at the Royal College of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire, Bimm London, the Kings School in Canterbury among many others, alongside private lessons, and a lot of my teaching has been to try and help young musicians gain a sense of joy and groove in their performances. My range of experiences, from my personal growth as a musician, to my time as an educator, have helped me gain valuable insights into playing music as a band.
